What's wrong with a big iPod touch?
By bc92
The iPad brings together the screen of a laptop and the functionality of an iPod touch. What more could a person want? Sure, the iPod touch can do most of the things an iPad can do, but it is the way that these things are done that makes the iPad shine. It brings that added convenience that people long desired. For example, it's possible to view videos from YouTube and go on Facebook on both devices but what would you rather do both on? Also, if you complain on how to actually carry a big iPod touch that doesn't fit in your pocket yet you carry your laptop, wtf? The reason why the iPad is a big seller is for the convenience it brings from getting rid of the annoyances that arise from small touch devices.
The size of the screen not only provides users the ability to look at an entire webpage with clarity, it allows apps to store more options on one screen, making the experience more efficient. You can easily notice this solely from going through webpages. Whenever you're on a website, you'll see images, text, links, and menus often scattered throughout the page. Though it is possible for an iPod touch user to view an entire page at once, I'm pretty sure you would rather see it on a bigger screen rather than on a 3.5 inch display. Since the screen of the iPad can be compared to that of a netbook or laptop, it is pleasant to navigate through websites and applications.
In addition, the multi-touch functionality on the iPad lets users navigate much more effectively and efficiently as well. You've probably seen how easy it is to move around a website on an iPhone or iPod, but what if you could bring that to the size of a netbook? Laptop users may rejoice for the ability to use a trackpad or mouse, but it would be easier to use our fingers directly on the screen to navigate rather than having to go through a medium. We already have some sense of hand-eye coordination (maybe), so it should be easier to use as direct input rather than pinpointing a cursor using a mouse.
If you're an iPad user, you have probably seen why people would want this device. It's that ease of access, efficiency, and a whole bunch of other conveniences that makes you want to keep the iPad. This may just be a bunch of words that may not appeal to you, but to realize what the iPad truly offers, you'd have to use it.
The price of the iPad may be fairly steep, but if you're willing to go the extra mile to make use of these added features, then it may be worth it.
